O’Hanlon’s The Original Ruby Stout
A unique Irish Style Dry Stout
Champion Bottle-Conditioned Beer of Britain
CAMRA 2003 Great British Beer Festival
Inspired by a traditional morning-after ‘corpse-reviver’, as dispensed by kindly Irish barmen, O’Hanlon’s prizewinning stout is blended with a softening measure of rich ruby port.
The result is a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing that has been the toast of beer critics everywhere.
Winner of a Silver Medal in the Irish Dry Stout category at the 2002 World Beer Cup—one of the highest accolades a beer can get—it is also the first beer to be served with dinner at London’s Savoy Hotel in over 150 years! This coup followed hot on the heels of its selection as CAMRA’s Top Winter Stout of 2001.
John O’Hanlon brews his distinctive range of top quality bottle-conditioned ales on his farm in the Devon countryside, down in South West England’s lush ‘Celtic Corner’.
Using only premium ingredients and clear cool water drawn from the farm’s own well, these are hand-made beers in the finest tradition of brewing craftsmanship.
Find out more about O’Hanlon’s hand-made natural beers and how they make them, at

The hallmark of a natural beer
Bottle-conditioning—a
secondary fermentation in
the bottle—produces a
natural sparkle and a
sediment, characteristic
of all live, natural
beers. Allow to settle
in a cool place, then pour
carefully. Serve cooled,
but do not over-chill. |
